Hello dancers and families. What a great first month we have had here at KDS. With the exception of just a few moments, the waiting room has stayed fairly quiet and reasonable. We still want everyone to remember that it is our goal here at KDS to give your student the best lesson we can, this is better attained with as little distration from the waiting area as possible. Please do not bring siblings or additional people to class unless they too have a class or absolutley necessary. Also please do not bring food or drinks other than water into our waiting areas to help us keep our facility in tip top shape. Thanks so much for your cooperation with this matter.

Important dates to mark on your calendars...

Wed. Oct. 12th - Jessica Etzel Master class for dancers grades 9-12.                                                Ms. Etzel is a fabulous choreographer who flies in each year from the east coast to teach master classes and do choreography for KDS. All regular 9-12th adv. classes on this night will be replaced with the master class. This class is free to all dancers who regularly have classes on Wed. night. The master class will begin at 6:15pm and be held at the dance studio. Tuesday night 9-12th grade dancers are also welcome to attend. Outside dancers, who do not attend KDS for classes may also take part in this master class for a fee of $15.00 each.  Ms. Etzel will also be holding master classes for dancers grades 2-5 on Friday, Oct. 14th from 4:30 - 5:15.  There will be a master class for dancers grades 6-8 right after from 5:15-6:00pm. Any dancers who are not members of the KDS competition teams (Team members have prepaid for this class.) are welcome to attend for a fee of $10.00 per dancer. Again these master classes are open to all KDS kids as well as outside dancers who may want to attend.

                             Sat. Oct. 22nd - 6pm - 10pm - KDS Fall Dance Party                                  Enjoy a night out while your kids attend the fall KDS dance party! There will be adult and teen supervised activites like crafts, make-up and hair fun (scary for Halloween or dress up), learning fun dance routines, tumbling, and snacks and drinks for all. For just $15.00 per child all is included. Profits will go to support the KDS competition team as they prepare for the 2012 competitive season. Please make a reservation at the desk if you plan to attend, but we will accept drop ins at the door. This is open to all kids ages 3-12 years old, KDS students or otherwise. Invite friends and help support a great group of hard working dancers.  

      

Mon. Oct. 24th - Sat. Oct. 29th - KDS "Halloween Week"

We love Halloween fun here at KDS and we like to celebrate the week before by having dancers wear their costumes to class, bring treats if they choose, and show off some of what they have learned with fun Halloween dances. We will be working on spooky dances all month and the last week we will invite parents and friends in to see our progress. (This will be mainly for dancers ages 3 through 4th grade.)  This will also be the week we will measure all dancers for recital costumes. You may send treats for your dancers' classmates, just please be sure they are individually wrapped and can travel home since we cannot eat in the dance rooms.  Don't forget  bag to take your treats home.

There will be NO DANCE CLASSES on Halloween, Oct. 31st so all dancers and families can enjoy a fun time out together. Be safe and Trick or Treat!!                                                                     

For more holiday fun, considering going to see "Dracula" this weekend at IWCC. Our own ballet teacher Miss Erin and former KDS dancer and instructor Miss Tasha will be performing with the professional company Ballet Nebraska. Go cheer Miss Erin on and enjoy the performance of some very talented local professionals.

Starting this Saturday, Oct. 8th, the times for the KDS open gym tumbling classes will be changing. Class for kids ages 3-5 years will be at 11:45am and ages 6-9 years will be held from 12:15-1:00pm. If you are interested in tumbling and are age 10 or older class will be at 1:00 but you must reserve the time at the desk prior to each Saturday. Tumbling classes are held every Saturday and are open to all. Individual classes are $8.00 each or you can purchase a 10 class punch card for just $40.00. Punch card prices will be going up after the 1st of the year so by one or more NOW. Cards never expire and are only punched when you attend a class. Come join the fun with Miss Kealy this and every Saturday!!

Nov. 21-27th - No Dance Classes Fall/Thanksgiving break.

Annual recital for all KDS dancers - June 1-3rd.

Welcome Back dancers and staff. To those returning for another season at KDS we say welcome back and we hope you had a great summer. For all those who are new to KDS we say WELCOME! We hope you enjoy your time with us and please do not hesitate to ask any questions. Miss Rachel, Miss Corina, and Miss Mariah are at the desk to help you with anything you need.

These first lessons of the season can be very chaotic. Everyone is getting adjusted to new classes, schedules, shoes, etc. Please refrain from taking pictures, bringing guests to class, etc these first weeks. Once we are all settled in classes there are better opportunities to take photos or have special friends or grandparents attend classes. Also this is special time for your little dancer so please do not allow siblings to enter the dance room or be distracting in the lobby. Only dancers who attend and finish class may get stamps on their hands, sorry but no siblings or friends, this is a special time and event for the dancers.

If you do not have your dance shoes the first couple weeks of class please just wear socks. No outdoor shoes are allowed in the dance rooms. Please make an effort to get shoes purchased or ordered ASAP. Those of you who ordered shoes with KDS can check at the desk to see if they have arrived. If they are not here this week they should be arriving by Monday the 12th.  We will continue to order shoes for those who place orders as well as stock as best we can.

At the time you registered, most of you paid your registration fee and costume deposit. A few more paid their lesson fees. If not or if you are not sure, please stop by the desk and check the status of your account. Lesson fees are due by the 15th of every month. Late fees are charged to accounts on the 20th of each month. If you have paid or plan to pay the trimester, you will receive a discount, but please remember the next trimester is due by Dec. 15th. We will do our best to send and post  reminders at the studio.

Please mark your calendars for the first of 3 KDS dance parties!! The first will be help on Oct. 22nd from 6-10pm here at KDS. For just $15.00 parents can drop off dancers between the ages of 3 and 14 for a fun evening of learning dances, crafts, tumbling, games, and other activities. The evening is sponsored and supervised by the parents and dancers who make up the KDS competition team. All proceeds will help the team pay for regional and national competitions and the expenses involved. Make it a date night with your spouse or just enjoy some time to yourself while your little one has a blast in a safe supervised setting. We will have snacks, hair and make-up stations, dress up, and more. All are welcome, students of KDS, friends, boys and girls. We hope you will join us and treat yourself to a night out as well. More KDS dance parties will be scheduled in December. (So you can shop!!)

There are still a few great classes at KDS with openings. If you have a friend who is interested, tell them to be sure to write your name on their registration form. You will receive a $10.00 credit on your account for each class they take. This offer is good until October 1st and only applies to classes with openings.

We know you have options for dance instruction and we appreciate your business. Please let us know any concerns or questions you may have so we can address them immediately and avoid any future issues. I am happy to speak with dancers and parents before or after the evening classes or by phone or email anytime. Again the girls at the desk will do their best to help you out or pass any messages on to the staff.
